Astilleros y Maestranzas de la Armada, known by the initial ASMAR, is a defense strategic company of the Chilean State, constituting a legal entity under public law, with autonomous administration and own assets. ASMAR’s main activity is to repair and careen the naval units of the Chilean Navy. It also attends the repair and careening of both national and foreign ships and naval crafts, the manufacture and repair of industrial items for national security purposes and builds ships and naval crafts for the Navy and third parties. ASMAR also performs works for land units and divisions of the Navy and National Defense Institutions.
For this purpose, ASMAR is organized in three industrial plants located in the cities of Valparaíso, Talcahuano and Punta Arenas. Its Headquarters are also located in Valparaíso.
